Importance of Moral Values in the Present day Situation

Modern mass society presents a sharp contrast, as the young grow up. They are faced with confusions, delays and discontinuities. Adolescents in particular are uncertain about themselves. Some are in conflict with themselves, bewildered an insecure.

Values are usually influenced by the changing philosophical ideologies, cultural and religious perspectives, social, political and geographical conditions. In modern emerging society, there has been a revolutionary change in the field of values due to many factors in addition to the influence of modern culture, industrialization, modernization, urbanization, globalisation and multinationals.

Value education refers to a programme of planned educational action aimed at the development of value and character. Every action and thought of ours leaves an impression in our mind. These impressions determine in our behavior at a given moment and our responses to a given situation. The sum total of all our impressions is what determines our character. The past has determined the present and even so the present our present thoughts and actions will shape our future. This is a key principle governing personality development. The human values are resolved having lasting impact necessary for bringing about change in thought and conduct, in the 21st century.

How to Negotiate Your Salary Effectively

When you get a new job or when you ask for a raise, a salary negotiation usually takes place. This represents a sticking point for many people, because they don’t know how to negotiate effectively and they often end up getting lower salaries than they deserve.

As a communication coaching, I’ve been teaching many of my clients how to negotiate their salaries effectively. Here are the steps that work best for them:

1. Know the market. It’s important to know what a fair salary is for your job, in the kind of company you work for and considering your responsibilities. In order to do so, you must know the market. So make sure you do your homework and you come to the negotiation with a good understanding of the salaries in your niche.

2. Show results. The only really efficient way to justify asking for a certain salary is through your results. Your employer can best be persuaded to give you the salary you want if you prove to them that you can add a lot of value. Your previous results are the ones you can use to imply the future results you’ll create.

3. Ask for more than you really want. By requesting a bigger salary than the one you really want, you leave room for negotiation. Thus, you can make a compromise during the negotiation; you can lower your salary demands and this way only reach the salary you’re really aiming for. This is a simple but highly helpful negotiation technique.

4. Stand your ground. Many employees compromise a lot during a negotiation because they are afraid that if they don’t they’ll lose the job. However, this fear is many times unrealistic and exaggerated. Be willing to stand your ground and take some risks in a negotiation. If you truly are a valuable employee, you will get the salary you’re asking for.

With good salary negotiation skills, you can get benefits many employees only dream of, and you can ensure top compensation for your work.

A Business Presentation for All Seasons?

One of the things I love to do in what spare time I have is to visit large gardens and one of my favourites is Bodnant in North Wales. When we were there recently we saw the most a gorgeous display of flowers. The colours were absolutely amazing and it really made me feel good to see it.

We were at the same gardens last October too and the show was equally stunning but in a different way.

The gardeners take a great deal of trouble to plan their planting so that no matter what time of year you go there the show is amazing.

They plan in advance what is most appropriate for the particular time of year and place in the garden and make sure that things are done in the right order and at the right time so that they get exactly the result they want to achieve. They have a garden for all seasons that presents a beautiful show whenever you attend.

Do you have a business presentation for all seasons? or do you have just one that covers everything?

Do you plan out in advance exactly what needs to go into your business presentation so that you get exactly the result you want whatever the audience?

or do you have just one presentation that is provided for everyone you encounter regardless of who they are or whether it is appropriate at that particular time?

In the same way that it takes time and effort to plan, organise and plant the gardens for a superb display all year round that make people feel better, it takes time and effort to plan, organise and deliver a superb business presentation that engages people every time.

If you want to have a fabulous garden that is worth seeing at all times of the year then the individuals elements have to be chosen carefully. And if you want to have a business presentation that is worth seeing every time then it has to have different components that are appropriate and will engage different audiences in different situations.

If every time I went to Bodnant the display was exactly the same then I probably would only go once or maybe twice but the variety keeps it fresh and memorable.

And it’s the same for business presentations. They need to have variety and be fresh and engaging each time if you want to keep people interested.

I encourage my clients to have a bank of several different business presentations ready to go and here are some of the things you can do to create variety…..

Listen to it from your intended audience’s point of view….. would you want to hear the same thing every time?

Think about how you could tweak one that you already use so that it lasts for

  • 60 secs
  • 5 mins
  • 10 mins
  • 20 mins
  • 30 mins

If you provide a range of services or products then rather than trying to talk about all of them, vary which ones you talk about each time

Have a number of stories to vary the content.

Give different examples each time of successes you have achieved with your clients.

This will give you a number of different components that you can swap around and mix and match and it will keep it fresh for your audience (and you!)…….. and in that way you’ll have a business presentation for all seasons.
